I also found out today at work that tomorrow is the start to Fashion Week. Yep, that is how I remembered… and at this point, even if someone offered me a much-sought after spot in a no-name tent, I’m going to have to pass because school is crashing down on me! But let that not stop me from listing the upcoming events that I’ll be missing and if you’re lucky – you won’t!

Tipsy <– a black and white long haired kitten followed A home on thanksgiving eve and I convinced A to take her in for the holiday. To be honest, it didn’t take much convincing since Tipsy just loved the attention! She was bathed and fed and left to fend herself against betrayed Viki. A spent most of the holiday fighting allergies and being with the kitty. Me, I had an “old fashioned” holiday meal filled with family smiles and gossip. Which is the way I suppose it should be. N & P left a lil early but we ended up drinking and eating cake all day/night long. Of course now I am two days behind on my work so I’m spending the rest of the weekend catching up on school work and begging M to work with me so I have some motivation. Don’t ask me how that is coming along, we shall see! Since I spend most of my time on the ‘puter multitasking – here are my blurry eyed links for today. Today was one of those perfect fall Sundays, gorgeous weather and beautiful yellow leaves and not bone-chillingly cold. My desk however is indoors and not sun drenched and I’m pretty much experiencing ski-weather without the long johns and the visual pleasure of snow. Sigh. Why must my apartment be SO cold. Why must I also have to work on my thesis? I have read so much “interesting” stuff and I’m re-lost about my thesis question. Is this supposed to be so hard?

Here is what I’d rather be doing: Bookslut (yes I would rather read non fiction books)… or Devilled (the blog is ancient).

Gigs I should make some time for at some point in life:  Slm, Amber Rubarth, Joe Diary,  Puppetheads, Methusela’s Valise, Mary C! (woot woot) and try to head out to Chloe 81

Review:

In her debut project “In Prayer” the sounds of chants, hymns, piety echo back in the room with clashes and clinks of different percussion instruments. Experiencing the loud “noise” is experiencing the population of the world in its primal nature without language and words.[2] The percussion sounds form an auditory pattern of highs and lows with each passing prayer and she takes the participant through an eyes open-meditative journey.

Zirve University’s ICECER Conference Call for Papers - fits right in with my thesis work so that should be a no brainer to submit to asap!

American University of Paris’s Narrative Matters conference in 2012 is already getting some good rep – A and me get to do this panel together!

Also the deadline for Berlin’s roundtable conference is coming up in a week so submission to that is on VVIP basis. (Seriously, this one needs to be done).

The phone has been on silent for days now and I feel buried under the weight of things to do and lack of motivation to do them.

And then as if he had never left, the man on the BART reminded me that time is not linear. It happened all at once.

So it has been proved and I know it to be true, that the “other” absolute insane is not separate and my idea of separation can only exist for a little while longer, until I can hold on to it, or it holds on to me.

In any case, this is the rant for now!
